STORY

OUR
Growing up, I was very close to my family, especially my nan and pop. They spoiled us in the best way possible, but more than that, they helped shape me into the person I am today.

When my pop passed away, I became my nan’s full-time carer as she lived with dementia. Those years spent looking after her were difficult at times, but they were also filled with love, laughter, and precious memories that I wouldn’t change for the world.

I’ve always been a caring person, and I find helping people, especially the elderly, deeply rewarding. To bring comfort, support, and joy to someone’s life and to build strong friendships is something truly special.

After my nan passed, I decided to follow what I love and began working in aged care. I worked as a carer for two years before moving into a lifestyle role, where I’ve spent the past three years.
This is where my passion truly lies. I love building friendships with residents, sharing laughs, and reminiscing about the past.
Hearing stories about their families, how they grew up, the jobs they worked, where they have travelled, and even their experiences during the war and the recession has been
eye-opening and humbling.

Despite the hardships many residents face due to ageing,
illness, isolation, depression, and past trauma, there is
always something positive they share.
Those moments remind me just how resilient and inspiring
people can be.
For me, this is not just a job. It is a privilege to be part of the lives of so many wonderful people.

It is my love of aged care that inspired the creation of Roses for Residents. We wanted to find a simple but meaningful way to remind nursing home residents that they are not forgotten, and that they are still cared for and valued by their community.
A single rose may seem small, but the joy, comfort, and sense of connection it brings is truly powerful.

Roses for Residents lets you bring a moment of joy to those who once spent their lives giving so much to others
and there communty.
